I established a firm base at the RBL Poppy Appeal stall, and then started a quick recce. The first thing I spotted in the distance was "Miss Jersey Battle of Flowers 2010", the lovely Sarah Watson, who was easily persuaded to pose with me. After that great start, I made my way slowly around the various stalls, where I was saddened to see other Bears being suspended by their necks, and paused briefly to pose with some of the military hardware on display.
All the major Service charities and associations were represented, and a steady flow of visitors and residents made their way around the square as the day progressed. Not as big a day as Weymouth last week, but then this Island is a bit smaller that the one across The Channel!
Having completed the circuit, it was time for more photos with lovely ladies from Oxford UOTC, and Marine and Sea Cadets from TS Jersey, before I finally spotted my target for the day.
Thank you for your time and attention, Sgt Bill Speakman VC - what an absolutely charming gentleman, and I'm honoured to have met you!
Proceedings drew to a close with a performance by the Band of the Island of Jersey, by which time my Bearer (The BMG) and I were both gagging for a cooling glass of wine!
What a lovely surprise day out that was - now to magic myself off to Scotland and that ACF Camp at Altcar! Sorry it was such a short report, but we Bears have work to do for hoidays4heroes

Holidays 4 Heroes is an informal group of people that assists wounded service personnel and their families get a precious break from the routine of rehab, hospital appointments and visits to welfare offices by facilitating holidays away from it all in accommodation donated by our sponsors in the UK and abroad.
Deals with the cases that either lie outside the normal remit of the main Service Charities, or require a faster response than they can usually provide. Sometimes the cases require financial assistance, a little bit of nudging in the right direction for long-term help, or the application of a bit of expertise.
