A Bear to Belarus

thumb_belarusSlingsby's R&R before the Lions' Tour has turned a little exciting. He had to undertake a mission behind the old ‘Iron Curtain' into the still-communist Belarus.

(This is one of the places that the vetting people don't like you to go to, apparently!).

Burra on a Zip Wire

thumb_burraColour Sergeant Burra finally escaped the QM's Store to go to a Church Fête, and try some adventurous activity. Well, they finally let me off babysitting duty. All those dressed bears take some supervising! The little devils are always into mischief.

We went into Blandford to do some shopping, and met the nice lady on the 'army surplus' market stall.

Slingsby on R&R

Thumb_sangitaAbit of R&R, and a Book Launch too ... what a happy Bear I am now. After three months' hardship with ‘theloggie’ in hot and sandy places it was time for the Sarge to have a well-earned break.

I have been asked to appear at a book launch in London, but before that I have just spent a few days by the seaside in Ramsgate, (which is much nicer than one would think).

Braille's Holiday at La Torre

thumb_polarisSgt BRAILLE was allowed to go on a short break to La Torre Golf Resort, in Murcia, to check out the facilities used by the clients of Holidays4Heroes.

I arrived safely in Dorset looking forward to a few days' R&R with my old friend Burra.  Instead we got used as babysitters for that spawny so-and-so Horsa's offspring. [1] We finally got rid of them to be adopted by some woman who's known for mistreating her dog, so we hope they'll be OK.

Braille's Big London Adventure

thumb_braillerugby

Sgt Braille had a big adventure in London.  He met famous people, visited some VERY interesting places, encountered some gorgeous ladies and great blokes.  Here is his short, but moving, story ....

Our Status

Sgt Slingsby, Holidays 4 Heroes and Help Them Out are not registered charities but non profit making community organisations. This approach allows us to  both reduce governance costs and provide a response time to urgent cases that befits our stated objectives of having the shortest possible 'flash to bang' time. If you have any concerns about this please do not hesitate to contact us.

Holidays 4 Heroes

Holidays 4 Heroes LogoHolidays 4 Heroes is an informal group of people that assists wounded service personnel and their families get a precious break from the routine of rehab, hospital appointments and visits to welfare offices by facilitating holidays away from it all in accommodation donated by our sponsors in the UK and abroad.

Help Them Out

Help Them Out logoDeals with the cases that either lie outside the normal remit of the main Service Charities, or require a faster response than they can usually provide.  Sometimes the cases require financial assistance, a little bit of nudging in the right direction for long-term help, or the application of a bit of expertise.
