Sgt Slingsby, Holidays 4 Heroes and Help Them Out are not registered charities but non profit making community organisations. This approach allows us to both reduce governance costs and provide a response time to urgent cases that befits our stated objectives of having the shortest possible 'flash to bang' time. If you have any concerns about this please do not hesitate to contact us.
Holidays 4 Heroes is an informal group of people that assists wounded service personnel and their families get a precious break from the routine of rehab, hospital appointments and visits to welfare offices by facilitating holidays away from it all in accommodation donated by our sponsors in the UK and abroad. 
Deals with the cases that either lie outside the normal remit of the main Service Charities, or require a faster response than they can usually provide. Sometimes the cases require financial assistance, a little bit of nudging in the right direction for long-term help, or the application of a bit of expertise. 
After a very busy weekend at Abergavenny, on Monday morning I had a doze in the car on the way back. I woke up in a car park somewhere in Hampshire to meet my new Bearer.
Sgt Braille felt it necessary to supervise the Bear-Minder-General and his wife on yet another holiday in the USA. Braille had enjoyed the experience

So there I was, minding my own business, sunning myself on a sofa when I was rudely snatched up, stuffed in a plastic bag and abandoned at the Post Office again!!
It was a lovely sunny Wednesday when Cpl Horsa and myself (the Famous Sgt Slingsby) were packed along with lots of other stuff into bags and boxes. About lunch time we drove to some hidden car park near a small brook and we thought that might be the end of us. But then all doors opened wide and there was ... the little bearer I spent Christmas and New Year with last year, who hugged and held us.
It's been a funny week here with TPBD. I had lots of fun over the course of the Bank Holiday weekend, just about managed to stay out of trouble. The week really has gone quite fast. Today once again "TPBD", "GrownupRafBrat" and "Shopgirl" are meeting for drinks and a meal to hand me over to Sgt Slingsby (where I expect to be put on report for my weekend antics). In the summer of 2009, WO2 HAMILCAR made the long journey from HQ Bears up to sunny North Yorkshire, home to 9 Regiment Army Air Corps. Unfortunately, he didn’t have much time to settle down and take in the scenery as timings were quite tight and he was (rather unceremoniously for a Bear of his stature) packed away into a box again and loaded amongst over 30 tons of Lynx Helicopters and other freight. It would be several days before he saw daylight again – fortunately, being a Bear, he had his natural hibernating skills to fall back on.
Ahhh ... The Far East and Australia - a trip of early mornings and lots of wine! How exotic is that?
Basepoint Business Centre in Basingstoke is where you can find The Bead Base. This is where, for the next few days, I was headed to help spread the word about Sgt Slingsby and his Band of Bears and for a bit of Beading, Banter and fundraising ... and I think that's enough "B's" for now!
