With the BMG's permission, I extended my stay in London for some more sightseeing.
I had no idea how long that was going to be, especially as I had to wait for my Bearer to be sober enough to take me out!
Pic 1: Decided to pop up to the memorial outside the Bank of England today, Rach the Bearer didn't really know all that much about it but thought I'd look good next to it! She was right of course! She then said we should pop along to the London Stock Exchange to have a word with the silly buggers who had a hand in making this great country lose a great deal of money! But on the way I saw a shop full of pretty underwear ... and simply HAD to paws for a minute or two to daydream about what Amy would look like in some of the get up! (pic2)
Rach did not let me linger there for long, and on we went to the Stock Exchange, (pic 3) we hung around for aaaaaages, but no one seems to work in these parts anymore! *snigger*
Then we went and had a peek around Jack the Ripper's stomping ground and paid our respects to one of the hookers he disembowelled! I don't mind telling you, I felt a chill through my fur when Rach plonked me down on the exact spot where he had murdered one of the poor girls! (pic 4)
We walked on down to Mitre Square, and had a little ciggie break ... Rach really needs to cut down on the amount she smokes! (pic 5)
Rach then took me into East London to see the Blind Beggar, a pub where the Kray Twins had a rumble, she said that I'd be able to see bullet holes, but there were none, but plenty of pints of beer! On the way we passed a Mosque, multi-cultural place this London Town! (pic 6)
I got to sit on an old-style London Bus, the proper Routemaster sort that Boris promised to bring back if he got to become the London Mayor: well he is, but other than this one, there's no sign of these buses making a comeback! (pic 7)
By now I was starting to feel a little pooped from all the walking: it's OK for Rach, she has longer legs than me, and enjoys stomping around! So I hopped into a black cab and got a lift to a shop that sold posh champers! I then sat on a letter box, don't ask me why, I was getting bored with waiting and thought it would be fun! (pics 9, 10, 11)
When Rach FINALLY arrived we spent AGES footling around trying to get a picture of me and the Gherkin! We were right next to it, and she kept moaning that she couldn't get the whole building in the shot! I suggested we might move away from it and possibly have more luck with it then! I was right of course! (pic 12)
After taking couple more pictures on the way, we then bumped into a few Chelsea Pensioners and Pearly Kings and Queens! They were marching through the streets of London to raise money for Help4heroes, not our Holidays4heroes outfit of course, but a very worthy organisation all the same! They had pipers and lots of people marching with them - I heard that they raised over ten grand in the end, so a very good day out for them! (pic 15, 16, 17)
Rach then told me we were off to see where the Great Fire of London started, in a bakers in Pudding Lane. I was rather disappointed when we got there, as the bakers hadn't been rebuilt and I could have murdered a sausage roll! (pic 18) Oh, and we went to some other places as well, but I guess you can work out where they are!
And that brought an end to my trip to Lunnon/Laaaahhhndun. I had to get my kit packed and join up for the activities at the Arnhem 65th Anniversary with a bunch of Para people - that will be nice! The BMG decided it was "culture shock" time, and has sent C/Sgt Burra to replace me - apparently he has some interesting visits lined up. More on that in a few weeks, I'd guess.
[Ed: Hotspur later said "She's a good person really, and took very good care of me, and worked very hard to get some nice pictures."]

Holidays 4 Heroes is an informal group of people that assists wounded service personnel and their families get a precious break from the routine of rehab, hospital appointments and visits to welfare offices by facilitating holidays away from it all in accommodation donated by our sponsors in the UK and abroad.
Deals with the cases that either lie outside the normal remit of the main Service Charities, or require a faster response than they can usually provide. Sometimes the cases require financial assistance, a little bit of nudging in the right direction for long-term help, or the application of a bit of expertise.
