London Town - Part 1

thumb_hotspur_london1One of Sgt Slingsby's first missions was to visit some of the sights of London. To provide an update, Sgt Hotspur was sent to London to "see the sights" for a few days.

Today we went ‘up taaaahn', at first I was wondering where this taaaahn place was, but it turned out it is just the way Rach talks and that we went up town. London Town to be more specific!

First off we met up with Rach's ‘well spoken' friend and we at around in St James' Park drinking coffee and putting the world to rights. A great big pelican flew down near us, at least ten times the size of me! I wasn't scared of him, but Rach wouldn't let me near him as she was worried he'd fly away with me! (pic 1)

We then walked up to Buckingham Palace and saw that the flag was flying so we knew the Queen was in (pic 2). I tried to sweet talk my way in for a chat, but the Policewoman guarding the gate was having none of it and just folded her arms and talked about security and all that nonsense..... (pic 3). Rach decided not to push it and shoved me in the fence and sneakily took a picture of me there!

We then walked pass the Guards Museum, where a few soldiers were stood outside for a wedding that was happening. Rach approached the boys and asked if they wouldn't mind having their picture taken with me. They started muttering something about Paras, but I just gave the smallest on I could find my steely 1000 yard glare; and he quickly agreed! (pic 4)

The ‘well spoken' friend then said we should go to Westminster Abbey (pic 5). Rach wasn't too impressed with this as she doesn't like churches, but she did agree that it's an amazing looking one!

Houses of Parliment was next, and Rach tried her luck with another Policeman. I think she might have a ‘thing' for them, as she got all giggly with the bloke that posed with me! There were LOTS of tourists there, and for some reason they all found it funny to see us having our picture taken! (pic 6)

We then wandered across Westminster Bridge and I posed in front of various ‘sights' (pic 7 & 8).  Rach then started moaning that she was tired and need a ciggie. She's a girl, and so understandably she needs more rest than us blokes ... but I agreed a ciggie break was a good idea! (pic 9). I also wanted to impress Rach with my derring-doo type behaviour and climbed all over an area where you're not allowed to be! (pic 10)

We then bumped into two girls who demanded to know what we were up to.  Rach explained it all, and asked if they'd like to have their picture taken with me. They jumped at the chance, saying things like ‘We'd do ANYTHING for soldiers..... Sailors too!!!' they then did some loud laughing and kept nudging each other and telling me to ‘be good'! I told them I'd bring the rest of the team back one day and that we could have some good times, <wink wink, nudge nudge> (pic11)

Rach and ‘well spoken' friend then said they wanted to go for a drink, I thought this sounded like a top idea, and said I'd like to give Slingsby a quick call to let him know how things were going so far, (pic 12) and then we went and drank! As usual!

More later - MUCH more.
